Showgrounds may not be the first place you think to stay when researching for your next family camping trip. But as we recently discovered, some showgrounds shouldn’t be overlooked. Just like Kenilworth showgrounds camping, which is situated right in the middle of town, offering everything you need for a comfortable yet affordable stay.

Kenilworth showground camping provides bathroom facilities, a great location and many nearby activities to keep everyone happy.

Location of the Kenilworth Showgrounds Camping

The location of the Kenilworth showground camping is probably it’s biggest drawcard. It is situated right in the centre of Kenilworth – a lovely country town in the heart of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. There are many other camping grounds around Kenilworth but none as close to the centre of town as the showgrounds.

Here you are located right on the main street and a short walk from everything you need. Here you will find the infamous Kenilworth Country Bakery, cafes, takeaway shops, local grocer, bottle shop, gift stores and the Kenilworth Hotel.

Activities nearby

Head across the street to Kenilworth Dairies – where you can purchase local cheeses, yoghurt, mousse, ice creams and other treats. This cafe usually offers a sit down menu but is currently just doing takeaway due to COVID.

Nearby walking and biking trails are a great way to pass the time. You can set off towards the back of the campground to explore the local area.

The local swimming pool is just next door to the Kenilworth Showgrounds – providing a great place to cool off in summer months.

For families, Kenilworth features a fantastic playground at Kenilworth Town Park – also just steps from the entrance to the showgrounds. This playground features a flying fox, fenced toddlers area, slides, swings, large climbing frames and plenty of equipment for children of all ages. It has many shaded picnic tables, barbecues and toilet amenities.

Spend the morning with the kids over at the playground and enjoy a coffee from one of the local cafes. Or take on the 1 kg donut challenge – or try Australia’s first ‘coffee in a donut’ at the Kenilworth Country Bakery.

You may like to play a game of lawn bowls at the local bowls club – just around the corner on Philip Street and a ten minute walk from the showgrounds.
